ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) is the umbrella term for camera-, radar- and sensor-based vehicle systems that assist the driver — lane keeping, adaptive cruise, emergency braking and similar functions.
ADAS components are aimed precisely at the road. Work that changes the vehicle’s geometry or sensor mounting — windscreen replacement, suspension changes, collision repair — typically requires recalibration to the manufacturer’s procedure, using static targets, a dynamic road procedure, or both.
Why it matters
Calibration is a growing, equipment-dependent revenue line for workshops, and a liability when skipped: a mis-aimed camera silently degrades safety systems the customer relies on.
